In experiments, scientists have mapped the path of a bee as it learns the configuration of a human face. They also found that bees can also distinguish one face from another.

In 2010 the team of researchers discovered that bees and humans both use a technique called “configural processing”, piecing together the components of a face — eyes, ears, nose and mouth — to form a recognizable pattern.
